Montana Bobcat

Listed below are 2012 dates. 2013 dates should be close to the same. This site will be updated with 2013 dates once they are released, which will be during the first few months of 2013. Bobcat are considered a "furbearing animal" in Montana. Only Montana residents may hunt or trap furbearers, and a license is required. Residents who have a furbearer license may trap or hunt bobcat. You must purchase the license by February 28, 2013.

Montana Bobcat may be taken only by resident trappers or hunters that purchase a trapper license no later than November 30th. Residents may purchase a Resident Hound Training License (RHTL) that entitles the license holder to use a dog or dogs to aid in pursuing bobcats during the hound training season from December 2nd through April 14th, but a person may not kill a bobcat with a RHTL.

Bobcat trapping dates, limits, and quotas vary by District. You must check the fwp furbearer regulations before planning to trap or hunt any furbearer, predatory, or nongame animal in Montana to ensure compliance to all regulations. Furbearer Regulations are updated by FWP in mid-August each year.
