Montana Wolverine

Listed below are 2012 dates. 2013 dates should be close to the same. This site will be updated with 2013 dates once they are released, which will be during the first few months of 2013. Wolverine are considered a "furbearing animal" in Montana. Only Montana residents may hunt or trap furbearers, and a license is required. Residents who have a furbearer license may trap or hunt wolverine. The deadline for wolverine validation is no later than November 30th. You must purchase the license by February 28, 2013.

Trappers must report a Wolverine harvest within 24 hours by calling the statewide Fish, Wildlife & Parks reporting line at 1-877-397-9453, and must personally present the pelt for tagging, carcass and skull to a designated FWP employee within ten (10) days after harvest. District seasons will close in 48 hours when a species quota is reached prior to the end of the regular season.

Trapping dates vary by District, as do quotas and methods of trapping. You must check the fwp furbearer regulations before planning to trap or hunt any furbearer, predatory, or nongame animal in Montana to ensure compliance to all regulations. Furbearer Regulations are updated by FWP in mid-August each year.
